Husk is a woven fabric with a three-dimensional ribbed design created by Marc Thorpe. Its pattern is inspired by the architectural structure of corn husks in Northern Italy. The ribs, varying in thickness from five to ten millimeters, run parallel to the selvedge, giving Husk a pleasant and tactile feel. When used as upholstery on a larger furniture piece, the stripes will be horizontal. Husk is made of two different colored yarns, creating a cohesive blend. Running along the ribs are stitching in a subtly contrasting or tone-on-tone hue, adding a charming detail that stands out on closer inspection. Marc Thorpe states, "Husk takes inspiration from the layered outer shell of a corn ear. The uneven linear texture lends itself to a visual and tactile architectural design. Its formal language plays with light and shadow, incorporating soft, organic tones found in nature." The knitted construction of Husk allows for stretchability, softly hugging the curves and organic shapes of furniture.
